Since I started this blogging thing, I have spent a good amount of time on my computer. Usually I post up on the couch for a few hours. But my couch cushions were beginning to sink in so I thought it was high time to get my office more “work friendly.”
I’ve had a desk in here since I moved in. I’ve updated this room to have craft corner. Yet, I never found myself in here because it just wasn’t very cozy.
So when I decided I was going to take this blogging thing seriously. I made some spreadsheets and goals and all that jazz. But, I needed a place to display them. Of course!
Lucky for me I had an old bulletin board at my parents house that I knew would do the trick!
It’s adorable, I know. Why would I want to DIY it???
But, it didn’t really match the “vibe” I was going for in here, so I searched pinterest for some inspiration and compiled a few tutorials I read and came up with this!
You can still kinda see my name plastered across the top left corner. But I was all about doing this on a budget, so extra fabric wasn’t really something I wanted to spend my money on. Plus, I knew it would be covered up with papers so it wasn’t a priority.
Here is what I used:
And I had this, but if you don’t:
Because I already had pretty much everything, which I imagine you do too, if you are crafty and looking for a DIY project, I spent less than $5 to put this all together. I call that a win!
First I ironed the fabric to get all of the creases out. Then I laid the fabric out (pattern facing down) on the floor and centered the bulletin board on it. Then I was able to fold the fabric over the edges.
I folded the corners kind of similar to wrapping a present.
I stapled three of the edges and left the top unstapled. Then I took it into the garage and sprayed the adhesive on to the cork. This part was a little challenging and I probably could have done without it, but I wanted to be safe.
Lastly, I was able to put the tacks around the edge.
Well…actually the tacks were at school and I kept forgetting them for like three days. So, after three days I was able to put the tacks in 🙂
And voila! It is done! I added it above my desk and added all of my spreadsheets, goals, and planners to it. And I have to say, I am IN love! 🙂
I love to organize and rearrange and redecorate. It is a lot of fun. But also a procrastination method. I write all about my organizing procrastination project I did last weekend in this post.
My sister made that cute little bunting for me. I grabbed a couple of wooden bins I had in the back of a closet to make a little bookshelf situation. I need to paint them, but that will wait for a later day. Maybe a Spring Break project? 42 days! But who’s counting?
Until next time,
