Anyone else get super overwhelmed when it comes to Christmas shopping? The month of December is so warm and cozy; Christmas music, cold weather, fire in the fireplace on the TV screen, hot chocolate, Christmas trees, Christmas lights. The list could go on and on. The last thing I want to do in December is stress over Christmas shopping.
I think the hardest thing about Christmas shopping isn’t really the shopping but the brainstorming of gifts to buy for people. I want to buy meaningful gifts that they wouldn’t normally buy themselves. But when I procrastinate until its a week before Christmas I am stuck buying them something that doesn’t have a lot of meaning or is just kind of random. Or something I need to order and then it doesn’t get here in time.
This past year I did things differently and it saved me SO much time, headache, and money! In fact, I was done with my Christmas shopping by December 1st! Halle-freaking-lujah!
Wanna know what I did?
It’s super easy!
I have this app called Wunderlist. I use it for just about everything.
There’s a screenshot of mine. You can see I have a list for the grocery store, things to get at the Farmers Market, what I need to do today, things I want to do to my house and a whole plethora of other random things. Lists make me really really happy. And every time I click the little “checkbox” on the app it does this sweet little “ding” noise and it makes me all sorts of happy to hear that I just checked something else off my to-do list.
At the beginning of 2016 I created a “Christmas Gift Ideas” List. Within that list I was able to create sub lists for each person that I wanted to buy gifts for. And then within that sub list I made ANOTHER sub list of all the things I wanted to buy for them. OH-EM-GEE so many lists!
Throughout the year if I saw something, heard of something, or thought of something that I thought that person would like, I would add it to their list. I had two or three things for each person. Then by the time November rolled around, I had all sorts of ideas of things I could buy people.
I even made a list of online stores I have heard about that I don’t want to forget. This list is good for when a friends birthday is coming up and I want to get them something. I can look at this list for a bunch of ideas of places to shop.
Wunderlist also allows you to share specific lists with people. This would make it easy to collaborate with others on gift ideas you may have. Just be careful not to share someones list with them! 🙂
Most of the items I ordered online which also saved me a lot of hassle. I also was able to stay within my Christmas budget a lot easier because I wasn’t doing any last minute shopping and spending.
So go download the app, create your lists, and get your Christmas shopping done early! I have faith in you!!!
Until next time,
